Memory issue

Hey all,
I'm hoping someone has had this issue before, cause I can't seem to figure it out. I'm working on an old Celly that uses SDRAM. So to make a long story short the system had 512 and I wanted to boost it to a gig. I went the cheap route and hoped that the new stick of 512 would "play nice" with the previous stick, but that doesn't seem to be the case. With both sticks in use the computer doesn't post nor does it give off any beep codes, it just powers on and the screen stays black. So with the original 512 stick in either of the two dimms works fine. Same goes for the newly bought stick of 512. By its self it works fine, when matched with the other one it doesn't work.

So obviously I assumed that the sticks just weren't compatible with each other and order another stick of 512 (same as the one bought before). Though it arrived today and I'm still getting the same issue.

Any insight would be great.

Thanks
Bob

ive had this issue with a previous computer of mine. 2 sticks wouldnt work for mine and would like you get a black screen. what i did was a single stick where as in you situation should get a single 1gb stick

It's actually an old desktop on the Intel 815 chipset. Seems that the chipset was never meant to support 1 gig or was very finicky about it. Been so long since I've done work on a system that couldn't even support 1 gig that it completely slipped my mind.
