i have a dell optiplex gx1

replaced memory cards.......think i had Kingston 64 mb pc 100, used 3 Samsung 256 MB PC133 CL3 SDRAM Memory Modules.

when i reboot, i get a message saying.....

memory write/read failure at_____________

then it says decreaing memory........

then it asks to run set up utility?

did i do something wrong?

or do i need to change something in tyhe pc?

im lost, help appreciated!!!!

I think either you put to much Ram in your motherboard, if it had originaly a 64mb card, then im guessing your motherboard can only handle 256 or 512Mbs of RAM.

it says.....

"memory read/write failure at 10004000
read 00000000
expecting 00ef00ef

decreasing memory available

try running with each memory module on its own, it they all run fine run with 2 modules. if you still cant run with 3 afterwards its most likely your motherboard limiting you

ok. only one card worked. it was a kingston kvrpc133/256-r

only that one worked. if i ran the other 2 by themselves, it would not boot up. only a blank screen......

if i used the one card that worked with either other samsung 256mbSync,133mhZ,CL3 it would give memory write/read failure......

are the cards bad? or maybe wrong kind?

i would guess that they are incompatable with your board, however i would be tempted to get them replaced under warranty and then try the new ones, if they still dont work try another make/model of ram
