Memory mismatch

Hi, I have a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R and 6GB of Kingston Hyperx KHX1600C9D3K3 (3x2GB) and wanted to get 12GB for the other 3 slots. Would the mismatch between slots still work? It would be 3 at 6GB and 3 at 12 Gb it would all be the same brand and model. Any help would be greatly appreciated **NOTE** My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64
 
It will still work. All of the memory will default to the lowest speeds/timings. It generally won't happen but there is a chance that you will get errors when doing this. If so you will just need to set the speed/timings/voltage manually in the BIOS. I had to do that with my last system.
 
No i dont need that much but i can get if for good price right now playing battle field3 i use about 5GB of my ram so i just wanted to get somemore
