Memory problem

This is very strange..just noticed this. On my windows system properties, it is telling me that i have 4Gb of memory, which is what i have installed, but is telling me: '2.99GB usable' - Yet i have windows 7 64bit!? Anyone know what is going on? Appreciate any help.

I suggest doing it through the bios rather than in windows. Check what version you have first and then update from there.

Not sure, i'll have a look. Just sending an email to ASUS then i'll get back to you on what i can find. Thanks for your help :)

Can't find anything relating to memory remapping. Though in the BIOS, it is defiantly reognising all the RAM. In the task manager, if i go to performance and look at the memory, right now it is saying 1.5gb being used presently, and that is pretty much half way up the bar.

The only thing i would recommend now is to go into the bios and look for something called memory remapping and enable it.

Sorry for the long delay, had to do a re-install of windows earlier, and somehow the problem has gone away. No more 2.99GB usable. Thank you for you're help though, very much appreciated :)

Damn! Spoke too soon :/
Right, the 2.99 GB usable is back. I'm going to go over what I did to determine what might have happened.
1. Installed Windows >> No '2.99GB usable'
2. Installed Mobo drivers >> No '2.99GB usable'
(restart)
3. Installed Graphics software as well as all my other essential software.
(restart)
>> '2.99GB Usable

I have a feeling that it is the graphics software, I've read somewhere that graphics software likes to take up some of the RAM, though I haven't heard of many people with windows actually saying 2.99 Usable.

The graphics card is sharing memory. You need to enable memory remapping as discussed. If that option is not available, then you need to look for a bios update. If that doesn't work, call the manufactuer, else, you are stuck with it unfortunately.

Sorted it. There was some ATI software that I uninstalled and the problem has gone. Very strange none the less!
