i build my friend a computer about a week ago and It included 1 stick of 1gb ultra ram. I sent it back because it was faulty. He ordered another to make 2 gb would it break the ram to just have 1 stick of ddr2 4200 in. ITs dual channel??? The replacement hasn't come yet??

yea you can run it with one stick in now... and then when you get the other... stick it in next to it and if your mobo supports dual channel (whats the model number on your mobo or a link to its product page) it will run the two as dual channel. but if you're asking if you can run it with just the one... the answer is yes.

dual channel just means that when two sticks of the same speed are in the slots, they work in tandem and give you faster read/write times. now if you were using rambus from back in the day, you would need a terminator card(CRIMM) which is what I think you are referring to.
