installed right now are x2 DDR2 PC4200 533MHz 512MB. looking to upgrade. manual says: DDR 667/533 DDR2 SDRAM w/ dual channel DDR2 architecture. Am I right to assume that my mobo NFORCE 570 Slit-A should handle dual channel w/ no problems? Im a light gamer on the computer but pretty heavy on apps. will dual channel upgrade be noticed?

Once you have memory installed on both channels the dual channel mode is enabled. If you were running only one 1gb dimm the board would be in single channel mode. The DDR designation refers mainly to Double Data Rate there.

The actual specifications for the model board will show what it supports while the manual will show how to install memory to see the dual channel mode enabled.

if u ahve 2 sticks right now...look on ur mobo real qwik adn see if they are on the same color slots. If not they are not in dual channel.

Not all boards are color coded where the manual as well as board diagram are then used to see what the manual is pointing at for A and B memory channels. Often the slots are simply indicated by slot #0, slot #1 or A1, A2, B1 on the board itself.

If you have 2 sticks of DDR2 533 and a 570 chipset now and there in the right slots, it already in Dual channel, but sure you could upgrade it to 1gb.
