Memory RAM readings...

Guys i have a compaq v2000 laptop, in this case my memory installed is 512mb of ram but as i check my system properties it only read 256 of my ram....and sometimes it goes 512 then 256 every time i retart my laptop....help pls im getting headache on this...sorry for my poor english
 
You need to pull the RAM out and make sure that your slots are clean. Then reinsert it and make sure that it gets fully seated. If you still have problems, you should change the RAM out. Try running with one stick at a time so you can find which one is going out. :D

I have tried wat u said and i think the problem is the slot for the ram...but why is it sometimes its running 512 then sometime 256 its inconsistent i dont know wats really the problemo
