Hello people,

well i have 4gb of this in my system

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-086-OC

and i had 2x 512mb =1Gb sticks of this lying around so i thought why not throw that in aswell

http://shopping.msn.com/specs/geil-...-kit-memory-1-gb-2-x-512-mb-dimm-240-pin-ddr2

Now it runs fine and Vista shows all 5Gb of ram,Exept one problem.

My vista rating with just the 4gb in gave me a solid 5.9 but then after installing the ram it went to 5.8 and i re-dont the rating today and its gone down again to 5.4

whats going on?

i realy just do not understand all this thing about timings etc :D

Mixing RAM can cause some major stability issues and it will lower performance. I can see by your screen shots that the different types of RAM run at different speeds. Just ditch the 1GB of GEIL RAM and run the OCZ. 4GB is plenty for what normal people do.

4gig of ram is plenty. I tried the same thing myself, i had 4GB installed and had a spare 2X512mb set. I installed them to make it 5GB but this made my system some what unstable as the ram makes and timings were different. Allthough it is possible to mix and match ram and not have any problems. It's better not to and just play it safe.
