memory speed help

My motherboard is an AMD CPU motherboard and it uses HyperTransport 3.0

Now I know in the old days and some computers still have Frontside BUS witch is the lanes that connect the CPU directly to the Northbridge.

And the Memory and AGP PCi E is all connected directly to the Northbridge and this is how the CPU talk to them.

The CPU would have to go through the Northbridge to talk to the Memory AGP and PCI E.

Then they put the Memory controler on the CPU so the CPU goes right to Memory and not to the Northbridge first I get this it is faster.

Now they have Hypertransport and it is a High Speed tunale from the CPU and Northbridge or something like this.

I still don't get what Hypertransport is???

Is Hypertransport just a lot of Lanes a Lot more Lanes sqeesed togather???

You've heard of Google right? :P

Here's a nice big fat Wikipedia article on HyperTransport for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperTransport

I don't know the first thing about it, but I'll bet if I did a little research on the good ol' Intraweb, I would have a pretty good knowledge of it within 30min-1hr. Go robertbiferi! Surf the seas of knowledge that are cyberspace! Then you can post back here and tell us what you've learned! :D

thanks but

I had read all over the net

One site tells me Hypertransport is a high speed Tunale for the CPU that goes to the Northbridge.

Another site tells me it is High speed Lanes.

But I will keep looking

That is essentially the same thing. The Hyper transport is essentially a high-speed bus that connects the CPU to other essential PC components like your RAM and PCI lanes.

For further information, start with the Wiki article deanj20 posted.

Well.......You Looking for ways to speed up Your computer? You could try some of the best and simplest things .Like Registry cleaners help to speed up your computer. Limiting the programs that you load, Hard disk management ,Adding more memory ,Turning off visuals and Routine computer maintenance .There is lots of software's are also available in the market also to speed up your computer speed you can also go for these......It will increase your Memory speed also..!!!!

My understanding of HyperTransport technology is the following:

The Advanced Micro Devices central processing unit is connected directly to RAM by HyperTransport. Since the release of the Athlon 64-bit processor this technology has been implemented.

I also do believe the PCI-Express X16 slot is connected directly to the processor by HyperTransport. All other devices go thru either southbridge to northbridge then to the processor. Or data travels thru northbridge then to the processor.

Picture worth a thousand words. Plus, I think now there is a HT link from the processor to the southbridge.

thanks but

Thanks I think I have it

The ram use to go throught the Northbridge to get to the CPU now it goes to the CPU directly and the same with PCI express 16 an all PCI express.
