Memory speed

I had bought a Kingmax PC 3200 400Mhz 512 memory RAM and upgraded my memory to 1 Gb RAM . But the problem is I cannot see any difference of gameplay peformance . Is it regard to the graphic card or processor ?
Before that I had used the 256 MB RAM to play The Lord of The Ring :Battle For Middle Earth ,but not so contented with the game speed. I added another 256 Mb RAM and the gameplay had a little bit of improvement.Now there is nothing change even I change to 768 MB RAM or 1 Gb RAM. Is that my processor cannot fully utillize the power of the memory or the graphic card is too crap?

P4X-266A Mainboard
ATI RADEON 9200 128 MB RAM
Intel (R) Celeron (R) 2.4Ghz
1Gb memory RAM
40 Gb Maxtor Hard Drive
 
At a certain point more memory will not do anything noticeable to ur game performance, but now u may be able to have multiple programs and that game open and have no hiccups, i myself only have 2gbs because of serious vide editing and ur at 1gb which is a bout the rite mark.i really noticed a bump from 512 to 2gigs but not really all that much from 512 to 1...dont really knoww hat else to tell ya but 1 gb is def good to have and will be utilized the more and more u use ur computer.

didn't mean it to sound harsh, but he asked which one was holding him back and i told him both.
