Memory upgrade, or not worth it?

I have a Scaleo P about 6 years old now with Windows XP. The Processor is Pentium 4, stepping 3, at 3.192Ghz, on a Asus P5GD1 board and 1Gb memory.
I have bought Roxio Creator to use for some video editing and making some phoyo slideshows. The problem is how slow it is to upload mulyiple photo's to slideshow and, when rendering it slows right down till finally the rendering fails. My question is, will it solve the problem and make the process, and all other programmes generally run faster, which ''Crucial advertise at about £60 or, am i better off investing the money in a new base unit? If so, any spec' recommendations please. If possible under £600

In my opinion, it is not worth upgrading the memory. The processor and motherboard are too obsolete for what you want to use this system for.

If you want to upgrade give a price range and we can give you advice for new hardware.

Depends on that graphics card it has. If you have an ATI 4xxx or 5xxx card, you can use that to do the heavy lifting. IIRC, Nvidia 7-series and higher can do it as well.

Im not questioning what you are saying.
I think memory is a cheap way to go and a cheap upgrade.
Max it out. 32bit say 3 or 4 gig. (4 gig is plenty for most).

Heh, heh, this is funny. We are all giving suggestions to this person and I don't think they are even reading what we are posting.
