Memory use increasing

I recently purchased a new HP computer with a Vista 64 Ultimate operating system. When i first began using the computer it would use about 47% of the memory while operating basic programs (AIM, Firefox, Ect). now as time is passing i am noticing the computer using more memory (56% last week, 58% this week) when using the same programs and or doing the same tasks.

the unit i purchased has 6G or RAM. i run nightly defrags, once a week Ccleaner, removed Norton and and use AVG.

is this a problem i should be taking notice of? i remember reading some posts a couple months ago with people complaining of a possible problem like this??

Thanks!

Vista loves memory. Did it give you a Dear John letter? I,m sorry to say this but I have found someone else.

i understand Vista loves memory but it increases its use on a daily basis. This concerns me since if it keeps going at this rate it will be at 100% in another 2 months.

anyone?

Try restarting your computer every now and then. Sometimes processes will not actually end even though you close a program. So after some time you will have processes just running in the background that you may not be aware of, and as these processes build up you will see increases in memory usage.

you would be correct, i shut down my computer before i left today, fired it back up when i got home, and i am back to 30% or so.

thanks!

Joe
