Messenger / email question

if this is a stupid question then i do apologise but do you have to have a hotmail account to use messenger? the reason i ask is i have an account which is of my business domain.

can i use this or not? its a uk domain name?

Yes you can use any domain. It will send a verification email I think, and you'll just have to verify your email address.
