messenger service pop up

hi, i keep getting a pop up window from 'messenger service' saying that my computer is unstable and that i need to visit a certain webpage to download a free bug remover and stuff. actually ive had a few different ones but all say that my computer is unstable or has viruses. are these just your usual rubbish pop ups or should i do what they say?

It is anyway of putting spyware on your PC. just ignore it.
Of course your computer maybe already infected so run some scans on your computer
 
1. Click Start/control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services highlight "Messenger"
2. Right-click it and choose Properties.
3. Click the STOP button.
4. Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar click OK :)
