Messenger!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please help!
My niece has over 300 contacts on messenger.At busy times on there she might have 100 online and be talking to at least 15 of them. At times like this her pc freezes and needs rebooting. does anyone know if the reason for it is basically the amount ofpeople on line with her???
