Messin' with the registry

Hey folks,

I've got an HP Officejet 6500 that I can't seem to get working on my computer. It was hooked up through a router, now it's moved and I'm trying to hook it up through a USB cable. In my efforts to get it recognized by the computer, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver - to no avail.

So here's where the title of this post comes in. In times past, after uninstalling, I've went in the registry and removed something, then reinstalled and it worked like a charm. The problem is, I've forgotten what that was that I removed. To complicate matters, the computer is also an HP, so I have to be careful not to delete anything that has to do with the computer.

Does anyone have any idea of what I removed from the registry before I reinstalled the software? Any suggestions (correct ones, preferably) would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

So I assume you had this hooked up wireless? Usually its a simple procedure to change it from a wireless to usb connection. There should be a utility in the HP printer program menu to change it.

I think some component was uninstalled on it, but when I try to hook it up the USB connection, it says the device isn't found.
