MIC not working

So i plugged my microphone.
since it was on mute in control panel i unmutted it.
i went to the "Voice tab" and "test hardware" but i got this :



what causes this, my mic is not working at all !!!

try getting the newest drivers for your sound device. I'm not sure what would cause that but if it's a problem with the drivers getting the new ones may fix it.

cool dude, it worked, but the sound is a bit wack maybe cos im using earphones not actual microphones.
