Microphone questions

Im planning on using a bluetooth (jabara) to talk to people in games.
My question is , is there a way for just the people voices to come out of the bluetooth but not have the game music come through (do youget what im trying to say?)

I know what your trying to do, but I think since bluetooth is only two channels, you have to route all sound to the headphone channel, not just voice.

Let me know what you find out. I looked into it last year and there was no way to split up the audio coming out of a game.

Use Ventrilo, it lets you specify where it outputs its sound to as long as the headset is detected as a separate audio device. If you have Vista then most likely your BT headset will be detected as a unique playback device and if you use Ventrilo, it has options to specify the output device. Also, check your drivers, my onboard Realtek drivers have an option that states "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" but that only specifies for things that are connected to the sound card.

Summary:
-You have speakers connected to motherboard - Vista sees this as "Speakers" (usually) and sets it as your default audio device. Every sounds comes out of those.

-Your BT headset is detected as a different audio playback device.

-Ventrilo has an option that allows you to select the output device. Thus making only the voices come through your headset.

yeah but that only works if everyone in the game is using ventrillo. My understanding of the OP's question is that he wants it to work for just random games.

I know what you mean and what your trying to do but I guess what your not understanding is that on a PS3 or xbox, the sound is already setup to go to your headset from other players voice or to your speakers depending where you want it. Meaning its a software decision, not a hardware decision. If your playing a game on the PC, the software would have to allow you to route voice only to your headset which not many if any will allow you to do (that i know of anyway) unless there was another program out there to do it. Buying a different headset is not going to change where that audio is going on the software level.

If the game has built-in VOIP, i would assume it would only direct voices to the headset and the rest of the audio to the speakers, provided the headset is not hooked up to the onboard sound card which cannot really differentiate unless the drivers allow it. This is why almost all gaming headsets are USB since the distinction can then be made by whatever software you have because a USB headset is seen as basically a completely different sound card that audio can be directed to. Do NOT get the 3.5mm headsets unless your drivers will specifically allow you to use different audio signals.

Both of those headsets are trying to keep outside noises out-look at the cup design- which would defeat the purpose of having 'voice only' going to them...

Yeah I know , but they look so darn good,
You would think developers would make an option for voip only , not everybody wants to hear a guy cuzzing in your 7.1 sorround system in your house :d
