Microphone

I cannot get a microphone to work on my dell. The sound drivers are all installed and yes it's plugged into the right slot ;) I've gone to sound recorder just to try it and the microphone says it's on but it doesn't pick up anything. It's not the microphone because I just bought a new one yesterday and it still doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas? Because I'm clueless :D

I'm having the same problem with a mic. on my Dell right now, (It worked fine on my Toshiba) and geoff is helping me out...
So far I've been told to make sure the Microphone isn't muted in the volume control. I haven't got mine fixed yet but geoff seems to now what he's talking about so I think it'll get worked out.

Make sure that your speakers are up high, make sure in volume control the mic volume is all the way up and unmuted, make sure the record input is set to mic and that the volume is up,

Good Luck

How is that going to help? Since yahoo will only change the settings for when you are using yahoo, and nothing else...

sometimes people's computer has two extra wire so they can plug it from the back. Look for a pink one. and plug the black in the green one. Then turn up your volume.
