Microsoft are scammers and cannot be trusted.!!
That’s probably not news to most of you but here is what happened to me.
I had a computer hard drive crash , so after recovering everything I could I had to reload my Office 10 software that I had purchased 3 years earlier.
After its loaded you have to enter the product key which was on the box that it came in .
Well I get this message that the software is not genuine , I had brought it from a retail store and had the receipt to prove it.
So I ring up Microsoft to try to register it over the phone and get told it’s a copy that I should not have ,??
And that I have to go to their “ how to tell website” and fill in a report to do with counterfeit software.
On the site it tells you that you have to send the software , the packaging , and the original receipt back to the Microsoft office that’s located in Sydney (I am in Australia) and they will replace the software.
I send it back in registered mail and I have a tracking number.
A couple of weeks later I haven’t heard anything so I email customer support and I get this email back.

So I contact them again and then I get this email. This is 4 weeks after sending the software back to them
You submitted a counterfeit report to Microsoft on October 10, 2013. Microsoft has not yet received any information or counterfeit product from you for this submission. Without this information, we are unable to determine whether or not your submission qualifies for a complimentary kit.
To qualify for a complimentary kit, please send the counterfeit product and reseller information to:
Microsoft ANZ Product Identification Service
1 Epping Road, North Ryde NSW 2113
AUSTRALIA
So I contact them again and I have checked with Aust Post and the parcel has been delivered , so I email them and explain that I can supply them a delivery receipt .
Then a couple of days later I get this email.
Thank you for submitting a counterfeit software report. We appreciate your efforts to help Microsoft in its fight against software counterfeiting. Unfortunately, after careful review, we have determined that the documentation you provided does not meet the criteria for the complimentary replacement software offer. Here are some of the reasons why we may have denied your request:
• No original proof of purchase was included in your submission.
• The receipt or invoice for the computer you purchased does not specify that it includes a copy of Office.
• A CD/DVD was not included in the submission.
• Wrong version of the software was received.
• A product key was not included.
• The purchase price for the counterfeit software was significantly lower than the standard pricing for the software.
Your Counterfeit Report Number: AJN1-EF6K
Well the original proof of purchase was sent I still have a copy !
I didn’t send them anything to do with a computer ?
The disk was in the box!
The wrong version was sent?
The product key was on the box
The purchase price was on the receipt
To me this just looks like they have no intention of replacing the software and never intended to and it is just another way of Microsoft being the biggest scammers of all time.
