I don't know how your brain works STARS, but when we're having a discussion about genuine software and you come in saying "That's why torrents win " we take that as you saying you approve or torrenting software and the OP should just do that. Plain and simple. So next time if you don't want anyone attacking you, don't even bother saying anything along those lines. I have nothing against torrents. I use them regularly to get large files such as Linux distros and HL2 mods.

Believe me, there are times I have a desire to respond to a post. But before I press the post button, I think of the repercussions. I'll realize that what I could say won't be good, so I just type out what I want to say, then simply close the tab so I don't post it. Try doing that from now on and stuff like this can be avoided in the future. :good:

Remember, you're responsible for what you post on the forum. Nobody makes you post or say anything you don't want to. It's the internet - unless others can read your mind and know EXACTLY what you were thinking when you wrote it, then they won't fully understand what you're talking about unless you FULLY describe what you mean. Then it just leaves your post up to the interpretation of the reader.

Giving torrent links to illegal donwloads is forbidden here so yeah, you probably would get banned.

Although I completely disagree with what Stranglehold told you (apart from the cussing) you have to keep in mind that we don't encourage illegal downloading.

I've noticed that a few members here are trying to get him to leave this place, feel unwelcomed... Alhough I hope mods and VIPs are better, guys keep in mind that this is a community and if you don't like one guy, please deal with it and don't be the stuff I've just read on the FB group.

Anyways all of this is off-topic and on the note of STARS being bullied, mods should take a look and take action against that.

This is far from victimisation, people have been warned, had threads deleted and had posts deleted for similar posts before. When discussions about torrents start, thin lines are being tread and it is better to avoid it completely.

Stars, I appreciate what you are saying in that you did not directly give op links or advice, however looking at it logically:

OP has a problem where he had the disc but the key would not work. Any other means of him getting the data would not help as he has the data, but not the means of activating it. Therefore the only way that a torrent would win here is to go around the activation, which would be illegal. That is not twisting words, that is interpreting what you said based on the discussion so far. Had you clarified at first, it would have been ok. Not helpful to op at all, but still would have been ok.

You were not given an infraction or an official warning, you were informed that what you said could potentially be seen as promoting the use of torrents, which is not allowed, you then took it upon yourself to make a big song and dance about it.

If you don't agree with it or don't understand why you have been told not to post something, drop a pm to one of the mods/admins. If you do believe that stranglehold is victimising you and you don't want to discuss what he has posted to him directly, myself or one of the others are there if you would rather take it up with us.

Punk, there was a post a few weeks back by unicorn I believe about Stars that you rightly took offence to and that an infraction was issued for, which was explained in the thread after you asked why no action was taken. We do deal with these things, however if there is a post about anyone that you feel crosses the line and could be seen as bullying, there is the report button on each post or again, feel free to drop a pm

If you weren't posting smileys and lol's after every sentence in every post it might be slightly more obvious that it was a light hearted comment. Either way, there is no further action to be taken for this so there is no point in carrying it on. Just be careful what you post in future, thinking about what you put first.

General rule of thumb - if you have to check the rules before posting, it is probably best not to post it

Let's all act like intelligent CF people, when you buy software you are not actually paying for the disc with software on it, you are paying for the proprietary licensing right to use that software under a certain set of conditions. There is nothing illegal about downloading software from a "Torrent" as long as you have paid for the right to use this software. I am surprised to see such a explosion over the word Torrent, I myself and others on this forum have recommend torrents to get there physical media as long as they have a legit paid for serial.

S.T.A.R.S. - do yourself a favor, when mentioning the word "Torrent" on this forum make sure you also mention "must have legit paid for serial before use", many people on here must think they are moderator's and understand the difference between legal and illegal software, they really don't obviously.

I would also like to make a note any comments made by moderator's the above comment is not implied at you all, just the non moderator's trying to do your job, thank you for seeing the truth and not closing the thread.
