Microsoft Encarta 2008

Hi guys, I was thinking of buying Microsoft Encarta 2008 but I want to know if any of you have used it before. If you have, can you tell me if it has good information, the pros, cons... stuff like that.

Also if anyone as an alternative, please mention it as I am open to suggestions.

Also if there is a free version of something similar that would be even better.

well not 2008, but i have 2005, i barely use i barely use it anymore (no use for it) but it seems good in terms of word and proper spellings and all. and it varies in many different languages.
hmm....free version........dunno men
