Microsoft FingerPrint Reader

I just purchased one from BestBuy today and man I'm impressed. I use this for all my passworded websites and user accounts and its excellent. Basically, you assign a password to your user account(or whatever passworded application you need it for), then you register the exact same password to your fingerprint reader...so whenever that login window appears for your password, you push your finger on the reader and it logs you in automatically. The reader is very fast (1 sec) and is extremely convinient.

I have one as well, but it's been sitting in my closet for the past several months. When I used it, it was great and I likes being able to just press my finger against it to log in. But now I just use firefox to save my passwords, it's easier :P

If I had a computer with multiple accounts, you can have it so it logs on to whomever is at the computer.

I'm willing to sell mine if anyone is intersted. :)

how accurate is it ?
i mean what if you hurt your finger while cooking or something
this would be a big problem i guess
and can you restrict access to finger print only or it can be accessed using default password ?

It's extremely accurate, the only time it failed was when i only pressed my finger down extremely light, or when i flipped my finger around.

You can register all of your fingers, so any of them will successfully register.

And you can use the fingerprint reader if you wish, but you're also able to manually type in your password.

so there is no way i can restrict access to ONLY finger print ?
As far as I know there isnt. But you can change you're password to an insanely long and confusing combination of upper case letters, numbers, and symbols. Making it nearly impossible for someone to guess at it.

omega, how much? it seems aswome. and i always use passwords (windows account, here, MSN, school, protected-by-password folders etc.
it will make all my family think i'm a rich and important felow.
but, selling acrss the border, woo, thats ba di guess. lots of trouble.

I've had one for almost a year. Easy answer to typing passwords. Only compaint is some webforms wont work, but thats a minor complaint.
Great little tool. It is a little quircky in IE7 beta 3

Yes, you can. You can grant access to any individual finger.
He means make it so the only way to log on is to use the fingerprint reader, so someone with his password can't logon.

I'll think of a price, it will be on the cheaper side since theres a small amount of black paint on it, but it still works great. And shipping isnt too much, i'm guessing around $10. PM me with your post code and I can see if it would be worth while or not.

It's actually not as good as u think. Unless microsoft updated it and release a more present reader, and it's not the older releases.. it's actually not as safe as normally typing passwords.

The coding that sends the information through and from the reader to your pc and to the site and such isn't encrypted, so if given the chance, anyone can get a hold of that unencrypted info and get your password.
