Microsoft Freezing

well i installed that driver, and i restarted my comp, and it freezes at the windows screen every time and im pretty sure that its because of a defective windows cd, and suggestions? i dont know what to do at this point.. im on a different computer.
 
oops.. typo, it wuz just a sound driver, my computer have done before but it stopped for some reason after my comp sat unconnected for like a year and i plugged it back in and it worked then after a day of being on and running it did it again after i restarted my comp for the sound driver ( C-Media AC97 Realtek )
 
I really doubt your problem is related to your windows disc! if the problems start after installing the sound driver then it is most likly that which is causing the issues here.

have you got the right driver for the hardware? and is it the most update one?
