Something I posted on Microsoft's forum today.
Today I wanted to buy several 30 Euro Microsoft Gift Cards on Amazon Germany. I discovered that all cards except the 75 Euro card were pulled. Was kind of disappointed, so I drove to a local store where I know they sell the Gift Cards, and again found only the 75 Euro cards. I asked a lady working there about the other gift cards and she explained that before and during Christmas they would only be selling the 75 Euro Microsoft Gift Cards. More than annoyed, I drove to two other retailers only to be confronted with the same experience.
I wanted to buy three 30 Euro Microsoft Gift Cards, one for each of my kids. They all have Windows 10 installed on their PCs, and would like to purchase some games from the Microsoft Store. This Christmas, money is a little short in our house and I can't afford three 75 Euro cards. The Gift Cards aren't the only presents I need to buy. Since my daughter graduated from nursing school I was considering buying her an Xbox One this Christmas to celebrate her achievement. I was taking advice from different gamers on which console would be the best investment. It was, till now, a toss up between the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. After this experience, I think I'll go with the PlayStation and it's ecosystem.
To Microsoft,
Imagine for a second that I am a parent with several teenage gamers at home, or I am an avid gamer and I heave a few friends that I want to give gift cards to. Do you think I as a parent and/or gamer would have enough money to buy several 75 euros card? Instead of letting us buy the cards we want you have taken away all options except one, the one that gives you the advantage by putting your customers at a disadvantage. Do you really think that this tactic will force us to buy a 75 Euro card? I will not be buying any cards now, and maybe not any in the foreseeable future either.
Thanks for ruining my day.
