Microsoft Silverlight

What is Microsoft Silverlight? I kinda read the info about it, enhances features on the internet but I assume it's for IE only. Since I use Firefox I could delete this right? I have an HP and it came with soooo many preloaded programs so I'm just clearing anything I don't need to boost performance.

If your using FF, of course you can delete it.
If you have problems uninstalling the crapware, use PC Decrapifier
