Microsoft Text Speech

Hi everyone.

After long hours of figuring out how to record text speech - something I think should have came with Windows anyway - I now find out that if the text document you made has a paragraph within it, then anything you copied into the Text Speech Preview Voice box will only be copied untill those words reach the paragraph. It is quite annoying and I was wondering why this is the case when it could just not be...

And also if anyone has an easier solution rather than going through every paragraph in all my work and deleting them. Ie. Some how search and replace page breaks - if that's what enter's command is in Openoffice/Word. I would really like to rehearse my documents on the bus and it is something that should have been done along time ago :(

Thank you.

I can't give you an easy answer. Here is a link to do it in Word 2007.

In my version of word, Edit / Find / Replace tab / enter string and use "Special" button for non-printing characters.

Outside of Word, I would do it several ways:

1. Write a macro with a macro utility (eg AutoIt, Autohotkey, Macro Express). Replace ASCII characters 10 and 13 with whatever.

2. Find a text editor that can do it. I use Arachnophilia 4 for this sort of thing. It has now been replaced by a Java version which cannot do it. CuteHTML will also work but is not longer available.

Most text editors only allow a single line of text for replacing, not one that includes a carriage return/line feed. You are more likely to find an app among html editors.
