Microsoft just announced that Windows Vista is the last desktop operating system on 32-bits and that after Windows Server 2008 they will develop only 64-bit operating systems. This is part of Microsoft’s view of the future and it seems that both 64-bit operating systems and multi core desktop systems. In fact Microsoft representatives stated that future machines should have “two cores, eight cores, and ultimately many, many cores”.

yeah i expected them to do this....at least it will urge software companys to develop more software that works properly on 64 bit windows. :)

They should have done it with Vista, if they had not said that Vista was going to be 32bit too, hardware companys would have been on the ball with the 64bit drivers and not had to make 32 and 64 bit drivers. They should have learned there lesson with XP and XP 64bit. When 98 came out you didnt see 16bit and 32bit windows 98!

I have Vista x64, i havent done anything with it yet....does anyone know how well the 64-bit Vista works? Like gaming, and programs, any problems?

i don't like x64 bit version of windows, i used x64 windows xp and it was bad, had driver issues. but thats Microsoft descision and have to respect and go along with it
