Microsoft

With Microsoft these days, it seems like it's time to just grab a bucket of popcorn and watch the fail show. How is it that every computer geek in the world can predict when one of their products will flop, but their own marketing team never can?

Looks like Steve Ballmer is getting booted as CEO. Finally getting rid of the buffoon.

I just read an article on that today.
Also saw this video, seriously, anybody who could have dismissed Jobs that way and the iPhone, how did he hold the top spot for so long.

Microsoft needs a product guy as its head.
My first smartphone ran on Windows mobile. They made the mistake of ignoring the mobile space. I wonder if it is too late and whether it is just going to continue to be a two horse race, iOS and Android.
I think they need to spend a tonne of cash at getting the top app developers to build out apps for their Windows mobile operating system. Only reason I switched from iOS to Android was because I could get all the apps I used daily on android. I wouldn't consider going to Windows mobile unless they had all the apps I use.
They should also try and change to look somewhat similar to iOS and android.
I have never used a windows mobile using windows 8 but all that tile rubbish looks terrible in my opinion, I think they should go for a layout similar to the other major players.
Looking at how microsoft took and failed in their search battle of bing against google, I don't hold any hope for windows mobile competing against android with the current management.

I've actually got a Windows Phone (Nokia 710) and I prefer the tile layout to the layout of Android and iOS - and yes, I've used Android and iOS too.

I must admit I actually prefer Windows Phone in general to Android and iOS. The Android devices I've used look messy in my opinion (MY opinion) and the iOS hardware is ridiculously expensive. I hate iTunes too.

I've found Windows Phone 7.8 on my phone at least to be quick and quite stable. It rarely crashes or messes up. My Dad has a £100 Nokia Lumia 520 with Windows Phone 8 and that's just as good.

I don't foresee myself using another mobile OS. I don't play games on my phone and I don't require many apps so I don't have a problem with Windows Phone. With that being said, I've looked in the Marketplace/Store, and whilst there probably aren't as many apps for WP as there are for Android and iOS, there are a lot available on 7.8. Probably more available on 8.

I've used Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.1 and 6.5 devices. In comparison to my Windows Phone 7.8 device, Windows Mobile was slower and difficult to use. Windows Phone was a big improvement.

Just because the Windows Phone devices don't sell as well as the Android and iOS devices doesn't mean they are bad devices. I am seeing an increasing number of friends and family members switching from Android to WP.
