I have been reconsidering an AMD build. I was going with the 3200+, the Asus A8N, etc. But now im not sure. I'm still very new at this. I was maybe think Intel and looking into a build using their cpu. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I dont need high res picture. I just wanna play a few games like Unreal 2004 and what not. But also, I just want my comp to b fast. I have a laptop now and it is sooo slow. I just want something to run apps faster, and more than one at a time. So this is why im think Intel. Do u guys have any feedback to help me out, thanks

It depends really, but it sounds like Intel would be fine for you, depending on the model. If you get a decent Intel chip, I'm sure you'd be fine. I have an Intel P4 2.66ghz and it (along with my integrated video) runs UT2k4 fine. As I said, if you're going to be doing light-moderate gaming, and nothing serious like video editing, and you have a pretty decent GPU, I'm sure Intel will mure than suit your needs.

Lol I guess this post was a little repetative :).

how much money do you want to spend on a cpu?
if i were you i would get x2 3800, socket 939...

its a dual core, its one of the best for its price ($300 us)

I am looking to spend about $150-$180 or so on the cpu. I just want something to start with because this will b my first build. I dont need anything hardcore to start, but I will prob upgrade frequently, once I get into it. Im looking to spend about 800 or so on this build. And like I said, im a moderate gamer, yet not going to b rendering stuff and editing. I mainly want my comp to run faster. Do u guys know of good mobos that work with the Intel. I dont know of much because I was first looking in AMD. Thanks
