I upgraded my gts 250 to a gtx 480. On the 250 minecraft tekkit was playing at 50 fps, and on the 480 it still plays it at around 50 fps... my friend's 6950 is giving him 200 fps, so why in the world is it playing at only around 50 fps on a gtx 480 :confused::confused::confused:

Just tried minecraft out, i get about 50-60fps. It feels smooth, if it feels smooth for you then theres nothing to worry about. Maybe try opengl mode thingy see what that does

Here's the thing: You don't need to get 200 FPS, it doesn't make a difference once it's above 30 FPS.

What's causing your "issue" (which really isn't an issue) is most likely the vertical sync setting in the graphics settings in Minecraft. Turning that off will most likely send your FPS skyrocketing, but you will most likely get a lot of screentearing, plus it's going to overheat your CPU if the FPS is unlimited.

VSync caps your FPS at the refresh rate of your monitor. If FPS goes higher than your monitor you will get an issue where 2 frames try to show at the same time and you get screen tearing.

And once you get used to getting 60 fps when playing games (TF2 is where I mainly notice), I began to notice a difference when you get into the lower 40's. All depends on your perception. Generally 30 or higher is smooth but some people will simply not tolerate anything below 60. All depends on their perception.
