Minecraft Technic Launcher error

So I just purchased minecraft, and the only point of doing it was to play the technic pack, and when I try to run it, it shows an error saying: Unable to find a version of run time for this application... no idea how to fix it.. I watched like a 1000 youtube videos but none of the fixes help... I'm guessing no one will respond cause I saw posts like that on other forums with no responses, but I'll ask you anyways (I'm guessing no one was responding because they didn't know how to fix it): Can you help me?

Just download newest java runtime

More specifically, download the JRE from this link:

That's what I did, but I'll try it again, if it doesn't work then I'm guessing it's caused by win xp cause all of the other people that had that error were running xp... in this case: Linux, I'm coming

Click the download button under JRE, across from Java SE 7u10

Downloaded it, and now it gives me an error saying application failed to initialize properly... any ideas how to fix that?

Have you even tried just standard minecraft yet? Make sure that is working before you move on to using a mod.

Yes minecraft vanilla works perfectly fine, it worked even before I downloaded this java update...

Incredible, none of the fixes worked so I gave up, fired up my Ubuntu 12.10, downloaded OpenJDK java runtime 6, downloaded the linux technic launcher, restarted my pc, and boom! It works on linux and doesn't work on windows xp... Linux is amazing!!!! I don't think I'm not going back to windows any time soon esepecially because I learned how to use wine and I'm soon going to be able to fire up games like battlefield 3 on linux !!! Yes, it is possible..
