How do I figure out which mini PCI wireless card will work with my laptop?

There are several cards available from newegg, and I want to make sure the one a get is compatable with my gateway 400 vtx laptop.

There is a mini PCI slot/compatment in the notebook and wireless card was an optiojn at purchse (did not get at the time).

Thanks for any help.

I have about 3,000 or so gateway laptops at my work. We just buy basic old intel wireless cards and they work fine. Right now we got the 2915 ABG card running in it (mini PCI)

For the most part I don't think you should have any compatability problem with a Gateway. HP/Compaq on the other hand, you have to buy the cards from them.

We bought our wifi cards third party for like $30.00 each, and they work fine.

I don't really know anything about novatech cards, never really tried them. Also the intel card I was referring to was an ABG card, where as you are linking a BG.

Maybe try to find out if the hardware is broadcom based or not, that may give you a good idea of its support. If it is based on broadcomm hardware (remember only a few companies actually make componets) chances are it is probably natively supported in windows.

However, there is no guarantee it will work, I would make sure you can return it for a different card before purchasing.

ya msi should work, and at least I have heard of them before. I have an MSI mobo in my MAME box and it works allright.

I had never heard of the previous company before
