Minimum hardware for basic client/server network?

Hey guys,

I want to set up a small client/server network (making use of DHCP, Active Directory etc), and I was just wondering what's the minimum hardware I could get away with?

I'll be using Server 2008 R2 standard x64 with a high performance desktop. Clients are on Win7. I'm probably going to stay wired, though I already have a basic wireless router (Netcomm NB5Plus4W) so if it's simple enough to add wireless functionality I may.

Any advice is appreciated!

You sound like you already have an idea of how its going to work. I don't see any problems with your plan. As far as wireless....unless you start created vlans or get into more complex topographies I think your fine.
The wireless shouldn't be hard to attach to your network. If your using a router you'll need to disable certain protocols for it to work, but all routers are different so I cant give you a 100% on that.

You might eventually look to add some redundancy to your server if you don't already have it... RAID is something I would look into and a good backup solution as well. Maybe add a second network interface to your server as well if you do a lot of remote management. This can sometimes save you from user error lol.
