I don't know if this is a completely dumb question or not, but I think I am having problems with my nforce 4 chipset and my diamondmax 10 hd. i wanna get a new hd but dont wanna lose anything that i have installed on my current hd. is there any way to maybe mirror the current hd to a new one and have windows xp boot to it and still load the os and everything work correctly?

you would have 2 download the right softwae 4 the hd. what kind of hd are you trying 2 mirror 2? like ATA, SATA etc.?

i would rather not have to pay for software to do that.
i would wanna go from sata to sata, maybe sata 2. if it's not possible that's no big deal.
thanks guys

Go to the maker of your hard drive and look for the software used to format the drive. Very often there will be a program within that that will enable you to copy the contents of one drive to another :) That's how I managed to put the contents of a Quantum HD to a Maxtor, and then booted up with the Maxtor. For instance, Maxtor calls theirs "MaxBlast". However, you may have issues with XP at some point, as it will see a new HD in place of the old one.
