Having become concerned that my 7 year-old computer will someday unexpectedly die, I have bought an external hard drive onto which I will copy a system mirror of my present computer.
All well and good, but it occurred to me that in the past, I have usually upgraded to the latest operating system when replacing my computer. Which begs the question: Using Windows 7 presently, and likely a new computer will come preloaded with Windows 8, am I out of luck trying to download a Windows 7 mirror image onto a new computer with Windows 8 operating system? What I am looking for, is a way of going to Windows 8, but not having to reload everything I had piece-meal onto a new system.
