mITX Gaming Build.

Hello guys, long time since i've been writing over here..
i've been thinking of computer upgrade for long long time, but i always come up with new thoughts and now i think i have come to a good solution, building a mITX gaming rig.
I moved to a new apartment about a month ago, and don't have a good spot for my big computer in my small room, so i'm thinking of building a smaller PC.
Parts i've been thinking of:
Mobo: Asus Z97i-Plus
Case: BitFenix Prodigy
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition
CPU Cooler: NZXT Respire T40
GPU: Asus R9 280 (3GB)
PSU: don't know yet (maybe re-use)
RAM: don't know yet
SSD: KINGSTON SSDNow 120GB/240GB V300

budget somewhere at 700€, gonna buy parts every now and then when i have enough money (in the army so the cash flow isn't really that good) i don't play "new" games like BF4 or Crysis 3 (more like TrackMania. LoL, ETS2, CSGO etc.) thinking of overclocking the cpu (ofc).

I'm listening to suggestions!

Seems good, and that CPU is a beast, although it may bottleneck your GPU a bit. Maybe instead get a GTX 750 TI, it'll fit into your case easier, and doesn't require PCI power connectors. I would recommend a modular power supply from corsair, cx500m, maybe. Also for the CPU cooler, get a corsair or cooler master one. H100i or h80 is good

I don't see the point of BitFenix Prodigy. It is not small enough.
Micro atx case like SilverStone TJ08B-E or SilverStone SST-PS07B are at similar size. And u can use cheaper matx mobo, with more expansion slot.

If u really want a case as small as possible, check out SilverStone RVZ01B or SilverStone SG06. Then get 450w SFX psu.

I am not sure pair g3528 with r9 280 is good. The cpu may bottleneck gpu.

For gpu, check out MSI GTX760 Gaming Mini ITX instead.

Get a better processor if you can. Dual cores in this day and age are a joke unless your budget is really really tight.

I'd like to keep it as "cheap" as possible, since i'm getting 5e/day (soon 8e/day), and for the CPU i wanna go with that because it's cheap and i think it's good enough for me.. I might upgrade it later for 4670K or 4690K.
I chose the BitFenix Prodigy because i like the looks and features of the case (horizontal Mobo)..
And the graphics card can be longer since i'm not gonna use many Hard Drives so i can take the HDD cage off and get more room for longer cards (but i could think of Asus GTX 750TI OC [dual fan])..
For watercooling i found Corsair Cooling H80i (good/bad?), H100i is little over the maximum i'd like to pay..
And for the brands of parts, i would like as many parts as possible to be from same manufacturer (e.g Asus).

To sum this up:
Case: BitFenix Prodigy (not gonna change!)
Mobo: Asus Z97i-Plus (or H97i-Plus [not for cpu oc?], only ones in the store where i'm gonna buy from)
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 AE (gonna keep it for the price)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Respire T40 (or if wc: H80i / H90 / H60 / H55 / NZXT Kraken X31 [in the price-range i could pay for wc])
GPU: Asus R9 280 (or Asus GTX 750Ti OC [dual fan])
PSU: maybe the CX600 i now use...
RAM: Don't know! hulp?
SSD: Kingston 120 or 240 gig (V300)
HDD: WD Black 500GB (same i'm now using, might just slave it then)

For ram,any 8 GB kit over 1600 speed is good, the 750 to would save you some money, and do what you want fine. The Z97 board is a must have to overclock, the h80i is a really nice cooler too.

After thinking a while, watercooling on a g3258 seems kinda like a overkill because the cooler would be more expensive than the cpu.. How good is the build quality of corsair w.coolers? And how long does one last until losing its cooling feature?

Ninja, what cooler do you use?

checked the prices on the parts right now:
Case: BitFenix Prodigy [79,76€]
Mobo: Asus Z97i-Plus [143,47€]
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 AE [64,90€]
CPU Cooler: NZXT Respire T40 [33,79€]
GPU: Asus GTX 750Ti OC [dual fan] [132,98€]
PSU: Seasonic G-550 [98,31€] (or re-use CX600, but 80+gold :D)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Performance 8GB (2x4) [72,50€]
SSD: Kingston SSDNow 240GB V300 [79,84€]
HDD: WD Black 500GB (re-use)

Total: 705,55€ (if re-use PSU, total: 607,24€)

I still suggest you reuse the PSU, or get a CX500M, which is cheapsr and modular, and put tje money ingo a nicer CPU cooler like the kraken 41or 61 or a corsair one like the h80

As far as RAM use DDR3 1333 MHz the G3258 doesn't support 1600 MHz RAM. 8 GB of RAM is a safe amount for most gaming rigs.

Ninja Bubbles I've built a rig with a Pentium G3258 for a ECT class first thing I did when I built it was go to the ARK page. The page states that it is only 1333 and it is Intel that runs that database. If you haven't read it I advise it, here is the link: http://ark.intel.com/products/82723/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3258-3M-Cache-3_20-GHz

Bro, my rig has 1600 memory and a pentium g3258. It will support it, but wont use it to its max potential. However, I left it in so if he decides to upgrade his processor, 1600 ram is fine, whereas 1333 ram is slower

The setup you posted seems good for that price. BTW did you think about buying a laptop? Since you're moving from apartment it's much easier to bring it, and nowadays laptops have decent performance so they're good for everything. :)

Regards
