Mixing PC3200 + PC2700 RAM

Hello

I am new at this so any advice here would be much appreciated.

I have 1 x PC2700 512 RAM (333 MHz) Stick that I want to use simultaneously with 2 x PC3200 1GB RAM (400 MHz) Sticks. .. is it safe to use this combination ?

Both are Manufactured (ID) Micron Technology ... it could be that the RAM over all speed will drop to the lowest (333 MHz ) but the extra RAM might be worth it.

Do I need to do anything with the motherboard FSB ? and if so what exactly to get the best results.

The motherboard is a K7N2 Delta2 MS-6570E v1.X

If the above is not advisable will the combination of 1 x PC2700 512 RAM (333 MHz) and 2 x PC3200 1GB RAM (200 MHz) be any better ?

I am running 32bit Windows XP Home edition

Thanks for looking

Thanks johnb35 ... I will take that advice.

Finally is it something that I could have done and would it have been safe to do ?

Yeah its safe to do but like you stated in your post, it will reduce the other ram to the lowest speed.

Thanks for that

I actually made a typo in my thread title it should have read (333 MHz) instead of (166 MHz) not sure if that can be changed

I just remove the speed values. Like I said, Most users won't need more than 2gb of ram for XP. Unless you are doing something memory intensive, 2gb is fine. Look at your memory usage using using task manager when you are doing your most intensive thing. If you memory usage is less than 1.5 gb, there is no sense in adding the other 512mb.
