can someone reccomend me a motherboard. i would like to have it sli ready, eventually i will buy another card. (on sli, do you have to have two of the same cards or can i have a 7600gs and a 7800gt?) i would like to have 4 ram slots. (dual channel or what not, i have 2gb of regular ram (not dual channel or ddr2) that i want to know if i can use in there until i get better ram. its pc3200 but if i cant use it its ok, thats what ebay is for ;) i am going to put a amd 64 x2 4200 in it so it needs to be a socket 939. Also i need at least two pci slots. i guess thats it. thanks again guys! too bad there isnt a place that you tell them what you need and they make a motherboard to suit your needs. that would be cool

You must have the same card. Apparently you can have different cards but you can't run in SLI...but I've never used an SLI motherboard so I really don't know for sure!

If I were you and you're sure you don't have duel channel capable RAM, then I'd sell it and try to get some new RAM. That should really increase the performace of any system that can handle it.

As for the motherboard, I'd look into an Asus. I think the Socket 939 models are A8N or something like that. There are a few different ones, some with extra features(onboard firewire, extra SATA connections, etc) just fine an SLI model with the features you like on newegg...

whatever it costs dont bother me. as long as its not like 500 bucks cause i have to buy ram with it too. i would like to keep it and the ram under 400 for now. i dont need 2gigs of ram, just one or one and a half or one and 256 for the card. i will upgrade ram later

High end motherboards are usualy around $200. If you want to spend that much, the DFI SLI-DR eXpert, DFI CFX3200 CF-DR, and ASUS A8N32-SLI are some of the nicest socket 939 boards.

would that dfi work with my current memory?
Yes
also what are the little slots next to the pci e slot? is that for sli?
Do you mean the PCI-E X1 slot(s)? They're for other expansion cards.
