Mobo won't find my optical drives

Um well where should i start oh ya been up since 8 this morning putting my computer together and it took about 12 hrs and 2 computers, 4 hard drives and now on to 4 optical drives i had to install windows xp since for some reason my mobo won't recognize my optical drives i have a lite on it sohd
16p9s and a nec 3540 i tried copying the firmware from one hard drive to another but for some reason it won't find the drives either of them i need some desperate help plz thank you
 
what interface is it? im guessing IDE... but there are SATA optical drives out there... make sure its plugged in, and the correct pins are plugged in ex- slave jumper pins for the slave drive, and master jumpers for the master drive

IDEport on mobo --> slave drive --> master drive.
sorry your havin troubles dude, i had to RMA three mobos for my first build! it sucks having to wait doesnt it!
if its SATA then try pluggin it into a different SATA port...

Hey thanks for the help its a ide setup but found out that somehow my brand new cables were faulty....:eek: so bought new hard drive connectors and presto...
