mobo

Yeah, those two pieces work together just fine, or at least they should (as long as neither are faulty). As was asked just above, what other pieces are you using with it?
 
Do you here any beep when you turn it on? The motherboard's probably bad if you don't. And just to reinforce, there's no compatibility problems with the mobo/processor, I have the exact same combo and it works great...
 
You can try reseating the RAM, or flashing the BIOS, but I'm beginning to think that the motherboard is bad.
 
p5q pro is picky about the type of ram it has.
Changed ram system boots with 1 beep, but when screen loads beeps constant.
Can't load up a os system to install.
Any help.

On startup shows bios splash screen then goes into blinking cursor.
Cant run anything from rom drive to load anything, but light blinks on drive when media is inserted..
Is hard drive to be set as ide?

If it is preloaded on the hard drive then it will work fine because it is installed onto it. Do you have a dead DVD rom too?
 
Call the ASUS tech line. I just built a friends computer and used an ASUS MOBO. I would get past the load screen and would just lock up. I had to disable the JMICRON SATA. Honnestly I thought this was retarded, the tech guy could not even explain what a JMICRON was but once we disabled it things were fine.

Second, the MOBO never promted me to insert the W7 disk, my Gigabyte MOBO did. I had to reboot again with the disk in. I do like the feature of the ASUS but they need to get on the ball. Call them and ask for help, they were helpful and did speak english.
