mobo

I am looking to buy a new motherboard but I am unsure as to which one I should buy. I currently have a P3 and a P4 1.5 but I want to buy a new p4, like a 3.? . I want to be able to use DDR pc400 ram and want 4 slots and I want to beable to fill then with 1g's. I am not going to do this all at once, but slowly. And I don't want on-board graphxz or sound but if it does come with it its not a big deal but I want to beable to add custom sound and graphic cards, a network card and then I want an open slot.

I also want to be able to majorly overclock.

That looks like a nice motherboard and probably my top choice... but I would like to hear more sugestions. I looked for this mobo on ebay and it there aren't any good deals out there right now for it. The cheapest I can find it for is $195 US.And I don't need 4 memory card slots , 3 would do.

Here is one that i just found that looks decent..

Abit IC7-G

Does any one have any comments on this board?

I have that board on my own system and am very happy with it.
Having said that, The socket 478 is on the way out, there is no PCI-e slot and higher power video cards may be problematic(?) and they WILL have problems with the northbridge fan. Abit will send a new fan at no cost but it still costs $11 and will be the same fan that came with the board.
But I like it, thats what counts for me.

Well... if that socket is on the way out I don't think I want that board then. I want to purchase a really nice video card at some point and don't want to run into any problems.I guess I will keep on looking untill I find a really good deal or a board that looks good. I am new and I don't want to spend alot of money on a board that I'm not going to be happy with.

I also want to be able to put a pentium D in it at some point.

@daev:
Sounds like your wanting a gaming rig - any reason you are not going for amd

For good boards look here

I play the occasional game but I multitask more then anything. The new dual core AMD chip costs alot compared to the Pentium D. So i guess I am gonna be looking for a 775, unless I could find an AMD DC chip/board at an amazingly low price.

I was surprised that you have found a 478 with pci-e, new to me.
The IC7-g has problems with their northbridge fan.
