Modem Not Reconized?

My modem for some reason is not being recongized by my downgrade to Xp pro from Vista Premium.

I do infact have my modem in the pci slot and another program( modem detector something rather ) detets the modem too. But the actual OS dosnt...So my conclusion I think that maybe my modem is not compatible with XP?!

Could this be possible?

I know some of you will say just install the drivers...well my PC needs to first know theres a modem, which it dosnt! So till then I cannot install the HSFp_WinXP drivers.

How can I get my PC to detect the modem?

So there is no unknown device listed in device manager? Or any other devices with yellow exclamation points? Have you tried a different pci slot?
