HI there...

Does anyone know of a program that will help me, in changing what each account on a computer can do? I know XP has a basic built in one, but it is not that good...

With windows XP you can do just about anything you want concerning users as long as you are the administrator. A limited user account can't even install any software. You can set read and write permissions for all users. You can deny users from even acessing programs unless you as the administrator give them that permission. Right click on my Computer and select Manage. also check out the users accounts in the control panel. I have never used these tools as I am the only user of the computer. Now at work they run XP pro and unless you stay on the beaten path you get a message that states You do not have permission see your administrator. I'm sure someone on this forum can help you with User rights.

Hi, i downloaded a program trial called browse control this allows one to restrict users so that once they log on they are unable to do anything, you can filter websites, turn the internet off block applications you name it, you can do it. You do not need to have a network to use it as long as it is set to loopback, but the setup instructions will explain this. The trial lasts 30 days then you can buy it, you will find it difficult to find something like this for free but good luck!!

well at our school we use a program called "ranger" and this not only stops people from accecing things that they shouldn't but also it can stop them from right clicking (on the mouse),

Oh, I very much agree with it :D

regedit really is not for the faint of heart...
On my Windows ME comp, I had to open that up to install a font...
It was a nightmare.
