Moniter Advice/Recommendations

Hi folks, currently looking for a new monitor and I hope I can receive a bit of advice regarding what I should go for.

My budget is £250 ($376). In terms of size, I'd like it to be between 22-26 inches. I will most likely be playing games on it but I'd hope to be able to connect my PS3 to it if disaster strikes and my TV breaks.

The 3 I've been looking at so far are:

Asus 24" VW246H

Dell 2209WA

Samsung T220HD

I know the Dell is by far the more costly but is using IPS panel technology, it's stand is also very versatile. The big con for me would be no HDMI, which you really need to get the best out of your PS3.

What do you think of these 3 monitors? Any other recommendations within my budget would be great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

IMO, definitely not the Dell one, it's smaller, has a slower response time and smaller resolution. The Asus and samsung are great choices though.

Thanks guys. Do you know of any other monitors I should take a look at within my budget? I'm just looking for a quality monitor which is good value for money.

I actually just got that Asus VW246H today in the mail, haven't had a chance to hook it up yet, get the rest of computer in on friday, if you can wait, i'll give you reviews when i hook it up friday

I thought my HP2509 was fantastic, better pic than my 27. I am curious what others would think the downsides of it are, well in the price range at least in the USA.

I have read some great things about the Asus VW246H. You might also want to consider Asus MS238H if your looking for LED backlit and a very thin/light monitor. The Acer H243Hbmid has also received good reviews. The Dell sp2309W is a little expensive, but it was on sale recently. I'd say keep an eye open and if it goes on sale again take a look at it. All of these monitors are TN LCD monitors, which in my opinion is the best for gaming. Faster response times and viewing angles aren't much of an issue because your sitting right in front of the monitor most times when your playing the games anyways!

the Acer has built in speakers, if that's a plus (if your hooking up your PS3) but I've had a hard time finding a place to buy it.

I just hooked up the Asus VW246H, Colors look great (had to tweak colors just a little for personal preferance), Only complaint I could say is make sure you have a solid, flat surface that doesn't shake at all, the monitor stand seems to shake a little (like they didn't make it 100% flat) when desk is moved. Colors great, response time is great, great monitor, just need a sturdy desk or spot for it.
