Moniter Suddenly Doesn't Work... How To Fix This?

My dell computer is about 2 years old. It runs very good.

A few days ago, the monitor of the computer stopped working. It just stays black. No color. No images. No matter how many times I click the power button, it stays green. It doesn't turn orange, or show no light (when I turn it off). It stays green... only.

I checked the cables. There are two of them, one going to the system unit, and one going to the outlet. They are both in their right place.

When the system unit (the rectangular box thingy - not sure what it's name is) is turned on, I can hear the fan working. This must mean it works.

I might have overlooked something... But this is all the information I know.

My question: How can I fix this? I want to turn the monitor from pitch black and seeing no images or color, into the monitor functioning properly (where I can see images and color).

Have you tried hooking it up to a different computer? If you have and it still don't work then you have a bad monitor. If it works in another computer then you have a bad video card if its a dedicated card or bad motherboard if its onboard video.
