Okay so what is the real importance of monitor response time when gaming. I have heard just make sure you have 8ms or lower. Some people have said make sure you get a monitor with 2ms!! What is the real deal, what should I shoot for??

I am purchasing a 19'' LCD i think, looking to game with it.

Thanks

2ms is currently fastest and is for gaming.

8ms or lower?? where is it from?

19" LCD... LG L196WTY-BF/ SAMSUNG 906BW

There are actually lots of LCD's now with a 2-6ms response time, even on the cheaper monitors. 2ms is great for gaming, although honestly you wont notice a difference between 2ms and 4ms, heck I doubt you would notice a difference between 2ms and 8ms.

I am using a monitor currently with 16ms and WOW seems to run okay. It isnt the best system so it is tough to diagnose where/how lag originates.

Ghosting occurs mostly with high paced FPS games, not so much with RPG and other slower-motion games, as well as movies.

Oh, and OP, you shouldn't shop based on the rated speed. There's no third-party universal system yet, so manufacturers like Samsung who actually have slow panels can use tricks to be able to advertise 2ms.

I have to go to class, more later.

I got a quandary. A monitor working on a 60hz refresh rate will update the screen every 16ms. If you have a monitor with a 2ms response time, it will "update" the pixels pretty fricken fast... but then it has to wait an intolerably long time for a new frame from the frame buffer. So if people don't notice that long wait for the VRR signal, in "fast" games, how can they notice the difference between a 2 ms RT and an 8 or a 12 even, as omega said?

I just regurgitated what everyone else said, but with abit of amalgamated mouth noises (on a forum?). Yeah, I'm happy with this post. :D
