This a DELL desktop computer w/built-in video card. When I start the machine the screen shows this message:
"no signal,check cable". And light is blinking.Also a beep. I removed the monitor using the same cable and connected it to my laptop.It works. What could be wrong. This is the first time that happens.
 
Most likely onboard video issue or memory issue. On dell machines there are usually 4 diagnostic lights on front or back with color combination determining what problem is. What model of dell do you have?
 
Unfortunately that model doesn't have the diagnostic lights. When you turn pc on, do you see any acitivity on the hard drive activity light? It should blink. You can try removing and reinserting ram sticks.
