Monitor drivers problems

Im running Win98 and i cant install my monitor.when i try the computer frezzes or the screen goes blank.everytime i switch on my pc when windows loads a dialog box comes up saying "new hardware has been found would you like to install this" if i say yes the same things happens .Does any body know how to turn of this message box or how to install my monitor????

as there are no monitor drivers i assume you mean graphics card
it seems thata problem is with a corrupt driver ok here is my suggestion

while you see the windows 98 loading thing press f8 and choose safe mode.
when you do this only the basic vga driveres then when win98 loads with your graphics card cd install you driver
