monitor failure can anyone help?

A friend of mine recently switched on her PC but the monitor did not come on, it's light went green briefly then to orange, just before this she heard six 'beeps' come from her pc tower. She has tried checking everything is plugged in correctly.
Is this a problem with her monitor as she is concerned her PC has possibly crashed ? Any ideas how this problem can be fixed please?
 
This is a problem with the pc, not the monitor. The 6 beeps are telling you something. They are called beep codes and will tell you what piece of hardware etc is wrong. Tell me what type of computer (model number or name and brand), and i will tell you what is wrong.

Refer to this page regarding the diagnostic lights on the back of the tower or the beep codes. The beeps comes in sets of 3, not all 6 at once. Look at the list and determine the exact match what the beeps are. There is a fast pause between first and second set and then between the second and third set, just in case you are not familiar with beep codes.
